About Arpan

Arpan is an award winning organization working hard to address the issue of child sexual abuse in India. Based in Mumbai, Arpan is the largest NGO in India in this specific area with over 60 social workers and counselors providing prevention and intervention services to children and adults. Over the last 8 years Arpan has reached out to over 135,000 children and adults directly through its services and over 525,000 indirectly through training and capacity building of various stakeholders and public and policy advocacy. Arpan’s key project is teaching children personal safety skills in schools so that they can identify and seek help in an unsafe situation. Arpan also empowers teachers, parents with knowledge, attitude and skills to prevent and deal with child sexual abuse. Arpan aspires to reach out to millions of more children and adults to safeguard the innocent and vulnerable children and hopes to scale by building new engagement models with schools around the country.

Key Objectives of the Job

  1. Social Media Management
  2. Website Management
  3. Online Reputation Management
  4. Compiling, editing and distribution of the online newsletter
  5. Relationship building with digital media

Major Deliverables

  • Provide high-quality, well-researched, informative, interesting, engaging, error-free and authentic content for a range of Arpan platforms and properties – both internal and external. The prepared content should be strictly in line with Arpan’s brand guidelines.
  • Interact with children, partners, employees, volunteers and other people involved in Arpan’s projects to collect information to prepare interesting and inspiring case stories for digital platforms.
  • Competent enough to handle website updating and maintenance through a Content Management System
  • Being well-versed with various social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, YouTube and others, preparing and pushing strategic content on them, meaningful engagement with the audience and community management
  • Engage and grow Arpan’s social media community of supporters.
  • Prepare reports on the performance of different online properties including the website and social media channels.
  • Researching and keeping a tab on various online activities of Arpan’s competitors and other prominent organizations working in the social space.
  • Monitoring content and material in the Digital environment and ensuring that the organization’s online reputation remains intact.
  • Will be responsible for designing, developing and sending out newsletters once every month to all internal and external audience of Arpan.
  • Relationship building with media through incoming media inquiries, pitching stories, compiling communications materials and providing rapid responses to queries to increase visibility and brand stature
  • Work with Designer to get any work/changes done related to Arpan resources, /annual report/changes in existing or new print material etc.
  • Will be responsible for any other tasks allotted by the CEO & Director.

Specialized job competencies

  • Hands on experience on social networking / Facebook/ twitter /Blogs is must.
  • Proven writing skills in English, Hindi and preferable Marathi, both on-line and off-line.
  • Articulate in verbal communication especially in English and Hindi.
  • Good network with media channels
  • Candidate should be a team player and should exhibit good organizational and social skills.
  • Should be able to work towards targets and multi-tasking.

Educational Qualification

Graduate in English/Communication/ Journalism/Mass Media/ Event Management or any other related field.

Desired Experience

Minimum 2-5 years of work experience in the field of marketing/ public relations/ media management/ social media hands on experience and other related profiles.
